Kimolos

Kimolos is located on the southwestern edge of Cyclades in Greece and between Sifnos and Milos island. The island's distance from Piraeus port is 87 nautical miles. The port is at Psathi.

Chorio, the capital of the island, has two Settlements (Inside and Outside Castle). Characterized by the authentic island architecture with white houses with beautiful bougainvillea that thrive in courtyards, cobbled streets, churches and the wonderful view to the endless blue of Aegean sea.

The island of Kimolos has to present a rich cultural history and folklore, with many monuments and settlements testify to the remarkable growth both in antiquity and in modern course. At the same time, remarkable customs have their roots deep in time and maintain the tradition of the place.

The main attractions of the island is the Castle, the Cathedral of  “Panagia Odigitria”, the church of Gennissi tou Christouis located in the inner Castle, six  churches are around the castle: Agios Chrysostomos, Panagia Konomou, Taxiarches, Chrysopigi, Sotira, Agioi Anargyroi and the Pantokratoras is on the top of the  Xaplovouni hill, the Archaeological Museum, the Folklore Museum, windmills at Xaplovouni and at Karkani, the caves of the Mediterranean seal “monachus-monachus” in Prasa and the facilities of the bathes in Prasa.

The natural beauty of Kimolos island is an attraction for hikers. Traditional mule paths, some dating from Classical times, criss-cross the island and open up unexpected views of the magnificent landscape. They lead to lonely beaches, remote mountain scenery, secret valleys and many unspoiled hamlets.

Kimolos has many beautiful beaches to satisfy even the most demanding visitor. Other are sandy, pebble others, others are rocky coastline, but all have turquoise clear water that you can not resist their charm.
